[Hyperlipoproteinemias in psoriasis].

The hyperlipoproteinaemia truly characteristic of psoriasis is the type IV or major endogenous hypertriglyceridaemia. It is found in 39 p. 100 of patients with psoriasis as compared to 18 p. 100 of our controls (though 6 p. 100 of the French population according to Turpin and De Gennes). It appears to be definitely genotypic, environmental factors playing only a minor role. This study would tend to integrate psoriasis into the category of the metabolic diseases, coinciding with the notion of troubles with glucose metabolism in psoriatics, since it is now accepted that 80 p. 100 of type IV hyperlipoproteinaemias are pre-diabetic.

[Venereal granuloma (donovaniasis) in France].

The study of six cases of MacLeod-Donovan chancre, 2 in Paris, 4 in Brest, in young men coming from the West Indies, showed after 15 days incubation, a balano-preputial lesion consisting of an oval-shaped granuloma, 1 to 4 cm diameter, raised, indurated, ulcerated, reddish-yellow, spontaneously painful, bleeding easily, accompanied in 50 p. 100 of cases by inguinal adenitis, due to secondary infection. Swabs, which should be repeated, showed Donovan bodies within numerous histiocytes. The inactivity of penicillin may be contrasted with the rapidly favourable effect of streptomycin, chloramphenicol or aureomycin.

[Principle histoclinical forms of iatrogenic eruptions].

The staggering multiplication of chemotherapy and polychemotherapy, in addition to artificial substances introduced into foodstuffs (such as saccharin in certain so-called fruit juices), has resulted in innumerable visceral and cutaneous disorders. Confining ourselves to "iatrogenic" rashes, the mechanism of which is far from being a single entity, we have riviewed the six most common varieties: recurrent fixed pigmented erythema, in which stovarsol has given way to the sulphaguanidines; pigmentogenic rashes with the renewed use of amiodarone; eczema and erythrodermia which may be due to any drug, with or without the influence of the sun; iatrogenic lichens, atebrine having provided all types; bullous conditions, sometimes the final stage of the previous group; finally, Lyell's syndrome. Our aim was to study skin biopsies in all these problems, in order to attempt to discover typical lesions.
