SCr body is a label of repression of one of the sex chromosomes (X chromosome in women or Y chromosome in men) in the interphase nucleus. By the end of the synthesis period these chromosomes undergo derepression since DNA replication occurs. Thus, by the end of the synthetic and in premitotic periods of the cellular cycle the SCr body disappears. In tumors of various locations, a clear-cut inverse proportional dependence between a decrease in the number of nuclei with SCr bodies and an increase in the mitotic index was demonstrated. Therefore, the CSr test is an index of the growth rate (proliferative activity) of the examined tumor. By this test it is possible to determine the degree of the tumor progression, to assess the mitotic activity in small pieces of biopsy materials. The SCr test may be an additional method for differential diagnosis of malignant tumors.

The paper presents data of a luminous microscopy of the liver that were obtained by aspiration biopsy in 23 patients with hepato-cerebral dystrophy in comparison with 25 patients with cirrhosis of a hereditary etiology. In the majority of the cases (21 from 23) the method of puncture biopsy of the liver provides the diagnosis of cirrhosis in hepatocerebral dystrophy. The complex use of histochemical methods and especially staining for reticuline and cuprum significantly increases its informativeness. In 15 of 28 patients cirrhosis was of a mixed character (postnecrotic and portal), in 5 patients--postnecrotic and in a preneurologic stage it corresponded to the initial features of portal cirrhosis. The damage of the liver precedes the brain damage and is connected with an excessive accumulation of cuprum in it, the amount of which is significantly higher (559 +/- 89 mkg/g of dry weight) in the patients with hepato-cerebral dystrophy in comparison with the patients with cirrhosis of some other etiology (111.0 +/- 19.0 mkg/g of a dry weight).
Studies on the liver state from the functional-morphological point of view in patients with acute and chronic secondary cholangitis have revealed in all cases the involvement of hepatic parenchyma with the development of cholangiohepatitis. In its acute course and timely performed operative interventions the process in the liver tends to subside. The authors consider that due to the absence of pure forms of cholangitis this term seems to be questionable, and they recommend to substitute it in all cases by the term cholangiohepatitis.
The frequency of identification of "empty" nuclei of hepatocytes was investigated in 65 patients (25 patients with hepato-cerebral dystrophy, 18 patients with cirrhosis of the liver, 15 patients with chronic diseases of the extrapyramidal nervous system and other diseases) with the help of fluorescent and electron microscopy, cytophotometric determination of DNA, and on the basks of bioptic material (in 60 patients) and autopsy findings (in 5 cases). The so-called "empty" nuclei of hepatocytes are not specific for hepato-cerebral dystrophy, although in this disease they were observed in a greater number than in other diseases. Their dependence on the degree of portal hypertension and on some endocrine factors was noted. "Empty" nuclei were identified most often in the periportal regions and were characterized by a considerable increase in the volume, invaginations of the membrane, intranuclear inclusions, polyploidy. The study of polyploidy of the ordinary nuclei of hepatocytes in hepatocytes in hepato-cerebral dystrophy, bearing in mind the reduplicated DNA, revealed the predominance of diploid nuclei.

Peculiarities of clinical picture of diabetes mellitus in its combination with chronic hepatitis and cirrhosis of the liver were studied in 60 patients. Diabetes mellitus developed mostly against the background of chronic affection of the liver, preceding it. Glucose tolerance disturbances according to the type of latent and manifest diabetes were revealed in 28% of 132 patients with chronic hepatitis and cirrhosis of the liver. Histological study of the pancreas in 63 patients who died of cirrhosis of the liver demonstrated marked fibrosis of hepatic parenchyma without any noticeable changes in the pancreatic islets. The blood insulin and growth hormone levels were significantly greater in 132 patients examined than in healthy persons. The mentioned changes in the glycemia level, of the insulin and growth hormone level after glucose administration were more pronounced in cirrhosis of the liver than in chronic hepatitis, and in late stages of portal cirrhosis than at its early stages. The leading role played by insulin sensitivity reduction of the peripheral tissues in the pathogenesis of carbohydrate metabolism in cases with chronic diseases of the liver is supposed.
