In this second paper about structural analysis of the radiological image, we propose to teach three figural sets thanks to the practical application of resemblance and proximity. It consists in cervical triplet, metatarsal triplet and two metacarpal doublets.
The authors report a second case of an original malformation of the atlas vertebra which consists in occipitalization of the anterior and lateral parts (anterior hemi-arch) and in vertebralization of the posterior parts (posterior hemi-arch).
The flexion test can supply important data during cervical myelography with water soluble contrast media in patients with cervical lesions. Flexion causes disappearance of false stenoses of the cervical subarachnoid space, related to folds in the yellow ligament and to disc protrusions occurring during extension. Blocking of the column of contrast medium in severe stenoses of the canal is relieved by flexion of the cervical spine. Moreover, flexion and extension tests during myelography often serve to differentiate between hard and soft herniated disks.
The authors describe the role of computerized tomography in the diagnosis of metastases to the brain and orbit, and analyse computer tomography findings in different types of metastases. Because the metastases are visualized better after administration of contrast medium the importance of this tomography done before and after administration of contrast medium is discussed.
