Endocrine features in 22 women affected by idhyopatic hyperprolactinemia and in ten women affected by prolactin secreting adenoma have been assessed basic levels of FSH, LH, E2, T3, T4, and PRL were evaluated and dynamic tests by GnRH, TRH and bromocryptine were performed prolactin basal value and TRH dynamic test show some value in differentiating hydiopatic hyperprolactinaemia from prolactynomas, but no hormon by itself nor dynamic test show a reliable effectiveness for this diagnosis.

In chronic steatosic liver disease, alcohol or non-alcohol related or HBV, HCV, HDV associated, a reduction in hepatic glutathione and, consequently, in the detoxifying effects of hepatocytes is observed. Intravenous administration of high dose glutathione in patients with chronic steatosic liver disease has shown that glutathione significantly improves the rate of some hepatic tests (bilirubin, GOT, GPT, GT) even several months after treatment interruption. Further confirmation of the efficacy of GSH treatment is provided by the reduction of malondialdehyde, a marker of hepatic cell damage. The optimal results obtained in patients receiving 1800 mg/die/i.v. advocate the use of this high dosage.

Eleven patients presenting signs and symptoms related to flogistic disease of the right inferior abdominal region were studied with Computed Tomography. Four out of the eleven patients also underwent Magnetic Resonance examination. In 9 patients final diagnosis was correctly reached after surgery and in 1 case diagnosis was made on the basis of endoscopic findings and delayed echographic controls. Among the eleven patient a correct diagnosis was possible on the basis of CT findings in seven of the examined patients; 4 of them were correctly diagnosed as appendicitis; 1 case was diagnosed as Crohn disease; 1 case was a mucocele and 1 case was diagnosed as tubo-ovaric abscess. In 1 case no one diagnostic hypothesis was possible on the basis of CT and MR findings; on surgery the diagnosis was of appendicitis. In 2 cases of surgery proven tubo-ovaric abscesses a diagnosis of appendicitis was done on the basis of CT examination. In one case CT and MR findings were considered to be related to an ovaric tumor; on surgery the correct diagnosis was of post-surgical fibrosis. In 4 cases MR findings confirmed the diagnostic hypothesis reached with CT examination but only in two of them the final diagnosis was correct. In this paper we describe all the CT and MR findings found in each patient.
In order to evaluate the sensitivity of HCV test, Ortho Second and Third Generation HCV Elisa Tests were used in 315 sera collected from dialysis patients. The agreement between the two tests was 96.5%. RIBA Second and Third generation and PCR were tested in the eleven discordant sera and in specimens collected in 1992 from the same patients and in 20 Ortho-2 and Ortho-3 HCV negative patients. Ortho-3 test is capable of detecting anti-HCV seroconversion earlier than Ortho-2 with increased sensitivity and specificity, as is confirmed by RIBA and PCR tests.
