[The effect of the activation of lipid peroxidation on the structure of extraembryonic organs and the liver in rats at different periods of ontogeny].

The influence of activation of lipid peroxidation (LP) on morphofunctional organization of extraembryonic compounds and liver on different stages of rat's ontogenesis was studied. It is found that LP-activation (paraquat injection) in late pregnancy leads to extensive vacuolization of trophoblastic and yolk sac cells. In the embryonic liver, the number of hemopoietic cells decreases. During the first days after LP activation in the liver of adult animals, enlargement of granular endoplasmic reticulum elements and their degranulation were revealed. In the liver cells of the offsprings, administered paraquat prenatally, signs of bile formation activation were detected.

[Antioxidants in the combined treatment of acute cholecystitis in middle-aged and elderly patients].

Investigations of the state of processes of lipid peroxidation (PLP) and the antioxidant system (AOS) of the organism performed in 267 elderly and senile patients have shown destabilization of the system "PLP-AOS". The correction of processes of lipid peroxidation with antioxidants improved the course of the postoperative period, decreased the amount of complications and lethality. It allowed a conclusion of the necessity to use antioxidants in the complex treatment of such patients.

[Neuromediator provision of the organs of immune system in benzpyrene intoxication].

The density of adrenergic innervation and relative content of catecholamines were investigated in rat lymphoid organs under different type of benzpyrene treatment. It was found that both ante- and postnatal influence of toxicant leads to a decrease of neurotransmitter providing of the thymus, spleen, mesenterial, iliac and popliteal lymph nodes. On the contrary, when mixed ante- and postnatal benzpyrene influence has place, the adrenergic innervation density and relative content of catecholamines are increased. We suppose that benzpyrene treatment of pregnant animals has specific "training" effect for monoaminergic systems of foetus and causes the increase of neurotransmitter providing of immunocompetent organs in conditions of repeat body and toxicant meeting.

[Morphological evidence of the possible role of cytochrome P-450 in the development of an autoimmune process in the liver].

Morphological alterations in rat's liver during lipid peroxidation induction by paraqat were studied. Infiltration of liver by lymphocytes, macrophages and plasma cells was studied. On ultrastructure level profound extension of rough reticulum cistern and destruction of mitochondrial cristae were revealed by immunohistochemical methods. Cytochrom P-450 was localized on the fibrin fibers.

[The characteristics of glutathione reductase distribution and activity in the liver of adult rats subjected to paraquat action in the embryonic period].

Paraquat action on glutathione reductase activity and intratissue distribution in the liver of intact rats and also in the animals antenatally treated with the given herbicide was studied by some biochemical and histochemical methods. It has been ascertained that paraquat injection into intact animals promotes the increase in the intracellular enzyme level, development of glutathione reductase staining of hepatocyte nuclei, diffuse distribution of the staining along the lobe. In rats antenatally treated with paraquat acute priming does not induce glutathione reductase. In these conditions a mosaic distribution of this enzyme is observed in the hepatic tissue.

[Effect of low-molecular toxic substances on the organs of the immune system in mothers and their offspring].

Administration of benzpirene to the mother is accompanied with activation of B-and decrease in T-links of immune activity both in the mother and offspring. The lymphoid organs in the animals, not subjected antenatally to benziprene action, but given the substance after birth, undergo destabilization and are not ready to administration of this polycyclic hydrocarbonic compound. This produces their hypoplasia. It is quite possible, that under this condition the activity of the cellular link of immunity decreases, and the humoral one is stimulated. Certain morphofunctional connections are supposed to exist between the immune systems of the mother and the fetus. The antenatal action of benzpirene causes a responsive reaction in the offspring as an immunological commemoration, and it ensures the level of the immune response.

[Lipid peroxidation in the rat liver during macrophage stimulation].

The content of malonyl dialdehyde, one of the final products of lipid peroxidation, was determined at different stages after zymosan stimulation of mononuclear phagocyte system in the rat liver. The gradual increase (with the maximum on day 7) of colloidal carbon clearance from the blood and the number of nonparenchymal cells, especially their nonphagocytic fraction, was noted in the rat liver after zymosan injection. A considerable reduction of hepatic malonyl dialdehyde was observed after the initial (on day 1) rising of its level. The distinct antioxidant effect developed by day 7 and coincided with maximal activity of hepatic macrophages.

[Reactivity of mononuclear phagocytes in the lungs and liver of rats exposed to low temperatures].

A study was made of lung and liver mononuclear phagocytes of rats exposed to severe cold (-7 degrees C). The data indicate the depression of mononuclear phagocytes under short-term (2 h) exposure to cold followed by activation of phagocytes, which was more demonstrable in the lungs. The phase modifications in the activity of mononuclear phagocytes were associated with accumulation of lipid peroxidation products (LPP) and destruction of alveolocytes. The different accumulation of LPP in the test organs of animals exposed to cold is regarded by the authors as a possible reason for functional differences of lung and liver macrophages.

[Effect of low temperature on lipid peroxidation in the lungs and on pulmonary macrophage activity in rats].

The pulmonary tissue of rats exposed to prolonged (8 days) intensive (-7 degrees C) cold was examined for the intensity of lipid peroxidation and activity of pulmonary macrophages. The data obtained during cold exposure attest to activation of the pulmonary compartment of the system of mononuclear phagocytes. Activation of lipid peroxidation in the lungs (days 1-8) associated with inhibition of the antioxidant systems (tocopherol, glutathione) is regarded as a possible mechanism of pulmonary tissue injuring by cold which stimulates the macrophagal response. A possible role of the activated forms of oxygen produced by macrophages during lipid peroxidation stimulation is discussed.

[Role of lipid peroxidation in the regulation of liver microsomal monooxygenase activity in homoiothermic animals exposed to cold].

The reaction rates of N-demethylation of aminopyrine, p-hydroxylation of aniline and hydroxylation of 3,4-benzo(a)pyrene in liver microsomes were determined in rats exposed to severe cold (-7 degrees C) for a long time (8 days). The data obtained demonstrate the decreased activities of 3,4-benzo(a)pyrene hydroxylase and aniline hydroxylase. There were no distinct alterations in aminopyrine N-demethylase activity. The increased levels of NADPH- and ascorbate-dependent microsomal lipid peroxidation together with impairment of the soluble antioxidant glutathione system are considered in animals exposed to cold as a possible mechanism of monooxygenase activity deterioration in liver microsomes.

[Changes in the hepatocytes of adult male rats subjected to the action of 3,4-benzopyrene at different periods of ontogeny].

The effects of benzpyrene (BP) were studied in 32 male Wistar rats. Treatment of intact mature animals with benzpyrene causes transformations of hepatocytes. Antenatal treatment with BP initiates a complex of compensatory-adaptational reactions in the liver of progeny and the effect retains at the postnatal period. The combined ante- and postnatal administration of the toxic drug makes the liver prepared to liquidate the effect of the pathogenic action with the help of a complex of compensatory mechanisms with qualitative changes in cell metabolism.

[The antagonistic activity of the bacterial flora in feed in relation to the causative agent of diarrhea in calves].

Antagonistic activity of 264 strains (6 species) of aerobic bacilli as well as 45 strains (3 species) of bacteria from genera Chromobacterium and Pseudomonas has been studied. They were isolated from the fodder at the farms of Ukraine five regions in 1986-1992 in respect to 128 strains (17 species) of genera Escherichia, Proteus, Salmonella, Shigella and Pasteurella, isolated by the authors from feces of calf with symptoms of diarrhea. High antagonistic activity of Bacillus polymyxa 168 (zone of growth inhibition of test cultures of 10-20 mm) in respect of diarrhea agents was established. The per os application of B. polymyxa in a dose of 200-250 ml of water suspension containing 100 bill. cells accelerated the process of recovery in the calves with symptoms of diarrhea as well as increased the weight increase in newborn calves.
