[The combined therapy of patients with chronic nonspecific pyelonephritis using interference currents and and radon procedures].

The exposure of the lumbar region to interference currents in combination with radon baths conducted in 37 patients with chronic pyelonephritis inhibited activity of the inflammation, hypercalciuria and hyperoxaluria, improved function of the kidneys. The same clinical effects were achieved in 32 patients who had received interference therapy in combination with intake of radon water.

[Use of immunospecific methods for quantitative estimation of microsomal epoxide hydrolase].

Antiserum, specific to rat liver microsomal epoxide hydrolase, was produced. Three methods for quantitative estimation of the epoxide hydrolase, base on the principle of antigen-antiserum immunoprecipitation, were used: electroimmune analysis by Laurell, radial immunodiffusion, enzyme-linked immunoassay. Distinct correlation between specific enzyme activity and its content in microsomal preparation was demonstrated using a simple and stable procedure of radial immunodiffusion. In the enzyme-linked assay conjugate of protein A with alkaline phosphate served as the secondary antibody. Sensitivity of the procedure described was about 1,000-fold higher as compared with radial immunodiffusion method.

[The presence in the skin of a barrier for the inert gas radon].

Human and animal trials have proved the existence of a skin barrier layer which hinders radon penetration. This layer is most developed in the skin sites rich in phospholipids, for instance, in the rat tail epidermis and paw soles. It was also found in the rat tail surface.
