[X-ray computed tomographic aspects of gelatinous disease of the peritoneum. Apropos of 5 cases].

Gelatinous disease of the peritoneum, designated by Anglo-Saxon authors as peritoneal pseudomyxoma is a rare affection characterized by the presence in the peritoneal cavity of a mucoid substance corresponding to an acid mucopolysaccharide. It develops secondary to an acid mucopolysaccharide. It develops secondary to mucosecreting malignant tumors, particularly of ovarian or appendicular origin, and its capacity to provoke multiple recurrences makes it of fairly poor prognosis. Diagnosis has been improved by the availability of non-aggressive investigations such as ultrasound and particularly computed tomography imaging. Suggestive CT scan signs are hepatic scalloping and a partitioned intraperitoneal effusion. Follow up scans can give data on the course of the disease and detect any complications (renal and digestive lesions, intraperitoneal abscess).

[Fatal eosinophilic meningitis and bronchogenic carcinoma].

A fatal case of eosinophilic meningitis associated with a large cell bronchogenic carcinoma is reported. Neither a cerebral parasitic disease nor metastatic localizations were found at necropsy. It is the first reported case of an eosinophilic meningitis linked to a bronchogenic carcinoma as a paraneoplasic syndrome.

[Fetus in fetu: report of 2 cases and analysis of the literature].

Foetus in foetu is a very unusual cause of abdominal mass in the infancy. Twenty cases only have been quoted in the literature. Two others cases are added, concerning two girls: a three months infant, second born from a genuine twin pregnancy, and a four weeks newborn whose the mass was discovered before the birth, on routine ultrasonography. In together, the diagnosis was made in operating room, then confirmed by pathologic studies. Literature data are recorded, and the difference between teratomas and foetus in foetu is point. The pathogeny remains obscure. It could result from the inclusion of a parasite twin in his bearer, become during embryologic stage of the delimitation.

[Tubal choriocarcinoma. A case report (author's transl)].

The majority of the 82 cases of tubal choriocarcinoma reported in the published literature followed malignant transformation of a tubal ectopic pregnancy. The case presented was not related to ectopic pregnancy but was apparently the result of malignant changes in migrating trophoblastic elements during previous pregnancies not arriving at full term. The patient had two abortions by aspiration and had been on oral contraceptives ever since. Fifteen or so of the cases of extra-uterine choriocarcinoma published in the literature appear to have resulted from the same aetiopathogenic mechanism.

[Hydatid cyst of the neck. One case].

Hydatid cyst presents rarely as a cervical tumour and otorhinolaryngological and maxillofacial sites of hydatid disease remain very rare. The authors report a case of hydatid cyst of the neck in a patient with multifocal hydatid disease. This cyst developed in the soft tissue of the neck within lymph node tissue without any connection with the parotid, thyroid nor muscles. Treatment consisted of pericystectomy after destruction of the parasite using a formal solution. A cyst of the right lung had been treated one month earlier during a first operative stage. Long term surveillance of such patients relies upon serology.

[Close genetic relation between determinants coding for the HLA-D region, detected by the technique of mixed primary and secondary lymphocyte culture and by serology of B lymphocytes].

In this study we report that: 1. Li determinants serologically detectable or closely linked structures are more associated to secondary responses than HLA-D specificities defined by HTC testing; 2. Other determinants from loci, MHC linked, or cross reactivity between Li determinants must be postulated to explain discrepancies between secondary responses and B serology; 3. Li determinants have an effect on the intensity of the reaction in primary allogenic proliferation.

[Detection of a minor stimulating product involved in secondary allogenic proliferation of human lymphocytes in vitro].

In a family with a shared parental haplotype studied in MLR I and II we report that: 1) A secondary proliferation can be induced without a primary positive MLR; 2) In these conditions a minor determinant activating secondary proliferation is detected; 3) No significant association of this product with the available makers (HLA-A, B, C, D, Ly-Li) of the HLA region has been found so far; its localisation within or outside the MHC is under investigation.
