[Clinical and endoscopic follow-up of gastrectomized patients Billroth II technic for benign pathology].

A follow up was performed in 109 patients primarily undergone Billroth II resection for benign gastric or duodenal diseases to analyze mucosal changes, possibility of premalignant lesions and importance of causal factors in aetiology of gastric stump cancer. Moreover, clinical status and haematological parameters for nutritional assessment are examined to identify indicators of postgastrectomy sequelas.

[Aplastic anemia and myelodysplasia: a not-always-easy distinction].

The differential diagnosis between Myelodysplasia and Aplastic anaemia may be sometimes difficult, because clinical and morphological features may appear similar. Two cases, a Myelodysplastic syndrome with hypocellular and an Aplastic anaemia with hypercellular BM aspirates, are described in this report. Reciprocal connections between these two pathological entities, some biological aspects and the value of BM biopsy are also discussed.

[Submucosal lipomas of the colon (considerations apropos of 3 clinical cases)].

Submucous colonic lipoma is relatively rare and can be the cause of important diagnostic and consequently therapeutic problems. The AA. reexamine the anatomo pathological and clinical features and the diagnostic and therapeutic problems, and refer 3 cases observed one of which was localized in the ileo-cecal valve. The AA. remark that radiological and endoscopic investigations and laparotomy features also can simulate a malignant tumor and address to the surgical technics of the oncologic surgery.

[2 cases of annular pancreas].

The AA. happening to observe two cases of annular pancreas, took the opportunity to study its etiopathogenetic, anatomo-clinical, diagnostic and therapeutic features. In particular, even considering the validity of the recently proposed duodeno-plastic modelling approach, they affirm a more valid technic, the latero-lateral duodeno-duodeno anastomosis surmounting the annular pancreas when one is not dealing with pre-stenotic duodenal dilations of elevated degree.

[The ajmaline test in identifying patients at high risk of developing complete paroxysmal atrioventricular block].

In thirty-one patients (pts) with atrioventricular or intraventricular conduction disturbances, the Ajmaline test was used to evaluate the risk of evolution to complete atrioventricular block. Three groups of patients were identified: A = nine patients without history of syncope or dizziness; B = seventeen pts with history of syncope or dizziness but without evidence of complete atrioventricular block; C = five pts with recorded atrioventricular block and history of syncope or dizziness. All patients with symptoms (B-C groups) and with a positive Ajmaline test (i.e. HV greater than or equal to 90 msec.) were paced with regression of symptoms. All patients without symptoms (A group) and with a positive Ajmaline test (i.e. HV greater than or equal to 90 msec.) were not paced and did not progress to complete atrioventricular block in a follow-up period of two years. Our results confirm that the Ajmaline test is useful in demonstrating the cardiac origin of syncopal episodes, but an HV value of 90 msec, does not seem to be specific enough in identifying asymptomatic patients at risk of developing complete atrioventricular block.

Congenital pseudarthrosis of the tibia: successful one stage transposition of the fibula into the distal tibia. A case report.

An infant male presented at age 17 months with an established pseudarthrosis in a kyphoscoliotic right tibia. During the ensuing 6 years, three unsuccessful McFarland bypass bone grafts were performed. Then the distal end of the proximal fibula was placed into the medullary cavity of the proximal end of the distal tibia without disturbing the proximal portion of the fibula. This was augmented by autogenous bone graft. Union occurred in one year. The child has been followed for 7 years and the pseudarthrosis remains healed.

Bone Diseases↗

[Alveolo dental injuries in children].

The frequency of alveolo-dental traumas in children necessitates a thorough study of their etiopathogenesis, diagnosis and therapy. The paper describes the authors' personal experience.

[Case of rhabdomyosarcoma of the maxillary bone].

The paper describes a case of embryonal rhabdomyosarcoma of the maxillary antrum which, according to the Intergroup Rhabdomyosarcoma Study (IRS) protocol, was treated with a protocol which included cycles of chemotherapy and radiotherapy.
