[Transperitoneal anterior approach to the neoplastic kidney].

The authors present 51 cases of malignant renal tumours approached by the transperitoneal anterior route. The authors preferred a bilateral subcostal incision sectioning the insertions of both abdominals, that was prolonged in the para-rectal region on the right or on the left, according to case, into the vicinity of the femural arcade. In this group of 51 cases 8 explorations of the inferior cava were performed and in one case total resection of the abdominal cava was carried out. In 4 of the patients nephrectomy was associated with splenectomy (2 cases), with colecystectomy and with right duodeno-hemicolectomy (one case each).

Comparative study of some characteristics of influenza virus A/PR8/34 (H1N1) cultivated on chorioallantoic membrane fragments in the presence of ceruloplasmin or of parainfluenza type I (Sendai) virus.

Multiplication of influenza virus A/PR8/34 (H1N1) in the presence of either ceruloplasmin or parainfluenza type I (Sendai) virus results in the appearance of progens different from the parental virus as regards some of their biological properties. The role of viral envelope changes in acquiring new characteristics is discussed.

[Bi-valve nephrotomy under local hypothermia in the treatment of coraliform calculi].

A total of 138 patients with coraliform renal calculi have been operated over a period of 3 years. In 36 of them large bi-valve nephrotomy was necessary in view of removing the calculus. Surgery was performed under local hypothermia, and renal artery clamping. Indications, risks and results are discussed in the statistics presented.

[Glenn-Cohen-Anderson operation in the treatment of vesico-renal reflux].

A total of 38 cases are presented (47 ureters) that were operated according to the anti-reflux procedure of Glenn-Cohen-Anderson. The immediate and the late results (up to 4 years) are excellent. The authors suggest that cases with reflux of the I-st or the II-nd degree should not be operated, and that surgery should be considered only when the urine is infected, and when there is a serious risk of scleroatrophic pyelonephritis. As a general rule a more conservative attitude should be adopted when faced with vesico-renal reflux, and the surgery should be well justified.
