[Transplantation of the kidney in the rat. I. Problems of surgical technic].

Is described a technique for transplanting rat kidneys. The technique involves suture of vessels of less than 1 mm in diameter with microsurgical techniques. Were used adult male rats of wistar strain. The kidney is perfused with 250 cc of ringer lactate, heparin 10.000 U.I., solumedrol 1 g novocain 150 mg. The results were very good.

[Carcinoma of the convergence of the hepatic ducts. A case treated with extended hepatic resection].

The case of a patient with carcinoma of the convergence of the hepatic ducts successfully treated with more extensive hepatic resection is reported. Stress is laid on the problems of exact preoperative diagnosis and of treatment. Most operations are in fact purely palliative and the literature contains very few cases of hepatic resection for neoplasia of the convergence.

Bile Duct Neoplasms↗

[Metabolic changes after extended hepatic resection].

Two cases of right hepatic lobe resection, one due to trauma and the other to echinococcosis. Adequate support therapy can be used to control the protein, lipid and sugar metabolic changes that occur after this operation. The seriousness of the postoperative course is related to the amount of healthy tissue removed.

Adult↗

[Carcinoma with a branchial origin].

Carcinoma was observed in a patient with a branchial cyst of about 40 years' standing. The neoformation was removed, but the patient died as a result of cardiocirculatory complications a little more than a year later. Note is taken of the rarity of this form and the compliance of the reported case with the criteria laid down by Martin et al. in 1950.

Branchioma↗

[Preliminary experience in extracorporeal renal surgery and autotransplants].

Successful management of stenosis of a polar branch of the renal artery by means of autotransplantation is reported. The main indications for this technique are described: arteriosclerosis and injury to the artery, aneurysm, various forms of ureteral injury, bilateral or unilateral renal tumour, coralliform intraparenchymal lithiasis, together, with the techniques for extracorporeal perfusion of the kidney and the mechanisms of the more commonly adopted conservation solutions.

Aneurysm↗

[Non-secreting malignant tumors of the adrenal cortex. Description of a case].

Non-secreting carcinoma of the suprarenal cortex is a rare from of neoplasia. A personal case, characterized by its large dimension (24 cm longitudinal diameter) is reported. Stress is laid on the need for early diagnosis although this is possible only in a limited number of patients owing to the disease's course. Only patients owing to the disease's course. Only early diagnosis, however, can enable the tumour to be removed before metastasis sets in. The malignity of these types is also pointed out, few patients surviving for longer than 5 years.
