[The aspects of psychophysiological analysis of erroneous actions performed by astronauts].

The experience of manned space missions points to the fact that cosmonaut-operator plays an important role in providing the efficiency and reliability of the crew-spacecraft system. However, the spaceflight factors can have a negative effect on working capacity of crewmembers and give rise to their operational errors. The paper deals with the methodical approach to analysis of the interrelationship of errors and psychophysiological state of cosmonauts as well as the ways of its realization. Described are the system of indices used for expert assessment of the psychophysiological state, peculiarities of work-rest schedule, and intra- and intergroup interaction. Potentialities of this approach are evidenced by results of the analysis of data from one of the MIR missions.

[Evaluation of the dynamics of in-group strain during long-term isolation].

Evaluation of the dynamics of in-group strain was conducted with conjunction with the 90-day modelling of space flight (ECOPSY-95). Baseline were the data of sociometric testing and analysis of video records of movements and behavior of the main and visiting crews (three members in each). Global assessment of the in-group strain was made on integration of experimental data using the Czech procedure of interdisciplinary approach to description of a social system, and the theory of fuzzy aggregate. The procedure allows to visualize interpersonal relations as social maps. Reaction to the psychoemotional strain stemmed from long stay in isolation was manifested by gradual build-up of interpersonal strain, redistribution of the functional/role structure of the crew, destabilization of in-group interactions and its split.

[Current problems of tropical medicine (based on materials of the Military Medical Conference of Countries of the Asian-Pacific Ocean Region)].

The scientific messages presented at the 3rd Asia Pacific Military Medical Conference are scrutinized. The encounter of about 200 military doctors from 14 countries of the appropriate region was heed in Jakarta in 1993, hosted by the Indonesian Army and sponsored by the United States Army Pacific Command. The Conference comprises 3 symposia on: military medicine and humanitarian assistance; malaria and parasitic diseases of military relevance; protecting the troops during tropical deployments. There were 53 reports in all, the leading ones belonged to American authors. Detailed discussions concluded every working day. In the whole the Conference reminded a regional seminar of military doctors in the shape of continuing medical education. The participants got qualification eredits in the field of tropical medicine.

[Dynamics of the bioelectrical activity of human brain during continuous work].

Electroencephalographic parameters can be used to detect early signs of fatigue which is of practical importance. Experiments were carried out on three healthy men to identify a limited number of symptoms allowing a rapid evaluation of operator's work capacity. The subjects were kept in long-term isolation. The study revealed general trends and individual variations in brain bioelectrical activities that reflected their performance during a continuous work with natural sleep deprived for three days.

[Change in the sterol and phospholipid makeup during the hydrothermal processing of buckwheat grain].

The effect of different modes of the hydrothermal treatment of buckwheat and of the grit cooking on a change in the composition of sterols and phospholipids was investigated. While not changing the qualitative composition of sterols and phospholipids, the hydrothermal and culinary treatment was found to produce some changes in the correlation of their individual fractions.

[Group and fatty acid composition of the lipids in yeasts of the genus Candida].

The group and fatty acid composition of lipids from 62 species and strains of Candida yeast was investigated. No strict correlation between the group composition of lipids and the yeast species was found but certain consistencies were seen. For instance, C. humicola yeast showed a higher ability for biomass and lipid accumulation. In their group composition triglycerides were predominant while polar lipids + monoglycerides and sterol esters + hydrocarbons were in small quantities as compared to other yeast species. Besides, C. humicola yeast contained no pigments. The C. guilliermondii strains contained low amounts of free fatty acids. The lipid fraction of all C. tropicalis yeast studied contained pigments. The yeast with increased amounts of triglycerides showed a comparatively high content of biomass and lipids. C. guilliermondii yeast had a high content of oleic acid and a low content of linoleic acid. All the yeast contained small quantities of stearic acid.
