[Professor Amador Neghme: a teacher of medicine in Chile].
In this text, delivered at the inauguration of the 1988 academic year of the Universidad Austral, the author outlines the personality and academic career of Professor Amador Neghme, recently deceased. This well known investigator in parasitic diseases became dean of the University of Chile in 1963. Probably his greatest contribution to Chilean medicine comes from his interest in medical education and his efforts to develop the relations among latin american medical schools.
