[Diagnostic and treatment of necrotizing cervical fascitis. Clinical course after a Ludwig angina].

The Ludwig angina is an infection of the base of the mouth and submandibular region, frecuently after a dental extraction or a piece in bad state. When it surpassees the milohioid muscle it extends dissecting the superficial aponeurotic planes, and can evolve to a necrotisant fascitis. We present the case of a 67 years old man with a painful tumefaction of the mouth base and submandibular region. The CT reflected an heterogenous submaxilar lesion that extended by the deep cervical fascia introducing itself in the thorax. Under antibiotic treatment the pus was drained by cervicotomy, with daily cures during 3 weeks.

[Paraganglioma of the vagus. A case report and review of literature].

The vagal nerve paraganglioma is a rare tumor over all the head and neck tumours. It presents with a insidious clinic, appearing usually as a asymptomatic laterocervical mass of low growth pattern. We present a case of a 53 years old woman with a left of painless laterocervical mass that produced cough with the palpation. We pretend to review the most relevant aspects of the diagnosis and treatment of the paraganglioma and therefore include this pathology in the differential diagnosis of laterocervical tumor.

Cranial Nerve Neoplasms↗

[Laryngeal neurofibroma. A case report and literature review].

Neurofibroma is a rare pathology on the larynx. We distinguish two types of neurofibromas: plexiform and not plexiform in which the difference is at the cytoarchitectural level. The plexiform type is usually associated to the Von Recklinhausen disease, also know as neurofibromatosis type 1. They usually affect the supraglottic structure, and more frequently they are described in aritenoids, ariepiglottic folds, and posterior commissure. We present a case located at the glottic level of plexiform type, with a postsurgical follow-up of five years. We make a revision of the aethiopathogenesis, evolution and prognostic of these pathology in the bibliography.

[Extramedullary plasmacytoma and hypercalcemia].

Extramedullary plasmocytoma (EMP) is an infrequent entity characterized by the proliferation of malignant plasma cells which are generally found on the mucosa of the upper respiratory tract. A case of EMP located in the right maxillary sinus is referred. Peculiarities of the same were resistance to radiotherapy with local relapse and severe hyperkalemia. Despite deliberate searching, disease dissemination could not be demonstrated.

Aged↗

[Oropharyngeal pemphigus vulgaris].

Etiologic and pathogenic as well the Pemphigus vulgaris is an autoimmune disease, being its symptomatology polysystemic. Accordingly, under the diagnostic viewpoint, must be considered as a multidisciplinary illness. Either the evolutive course, the differential diagnosis or the treatment emphasizes the importance of the attendance of these patients ambulatory or hospitalized. An exclusively ENT case of pemphigus vulgaris seen by the AA. compelled them to a perusal of the bibliography of the subject, in order to update the problems of diagnosis and treatment of the disease.

Female↗

[Keratosis obturans].

The Keratosis obturans is a disease localized in the EAC. It is an important pathology because its physiopathology differs from other analogous diseases of the same site, and has a clinical and pathological aspect uniform and peculiar, in spite of its evolutive course. The AA. review the bibliography and report their experience with the aim to define and classify this disorder.

Child↗

[Solitary rhinosinusal plasmacytoma. A review of its diagnosis and treatment].

The extramedullary plasmocytoma is a rare condition accounting for one per cent of malignancies of the upper air way. We present one case of rhinosinusal location, which diagnosis offered some difficulties owing to both the X-ray and clinical findings. Treated with radio- and chemotherapy (without any surgery) the result proved good. In the paper the AA. review and bring up-to-date this pathology.

[Dysphonia caused by idiopathic skeletal hyperostosis. Apropos of a case].

The Forestier's disease is an skeletal idiopathy described by this A. and Rotés Querol, in 1950, characterized by the systemic ossification in variable degree of the vertebral column. The neck localization can produce pharyngeal or laryngeal symptoms, due to the compression of the structures of the neighbourhood. So was the case recorded which being symptomless remain untreated. Survey of today's literature on the subject so as diagnosis, pathophysiology and its management.

Aged↗

[Laryngeal amyloidosis].

Reporting a case localized both on the left ventricular band and on Morgagni's ventricle, which histologic examination resulted luckily in this odd entity. Review of possible anatomopathologic techniques and methods for confirm or reject systemic amyloidosis. Surgery is the treatment of choice (microsurgery or laryngofissure). The lost motility of the larynx was recovered.

Amyloidosis↗

[Nasosinusal aspergillosis].

The paper reports about a bilateral maxillary sinusitis and a right pansinusitis of this unusual disease. The allergic polyposis present in the second case is probably due to fungus sensitization (as Katzenstein's case). None of them have had dental problems, not even foreign bodies inside of the sinuses (quoted from other AA.). The diagnosis must be confirmed by both the pathologist and the bacteriologist. The treatment is surgery plus antifungal drugs.

Adult↗

[Bilateral carotid chemodectoma on the external carotid arteries. A case report].

Tumors of the carotid body are rare neoplasms that arise from neuroectodermic tissues. They are located in the fork of the primitive carotid artery. They are benign, slow-growing, and asymptomatic, and predominate in women. We present a case of bilateral carotid chemodectoma on the external carotids. These tumors were diagnosed by CT, MRI and superselective angiography. The treatment of choice is surgical after arteriographic embolization. Exeresis is curative in most cases, but some cases require radiotherapy.

Adult↗

[Goldenhar syndrome: apropos of 2 cases].

The arc branch syndrome are a group of diseases whose classification and etiology are unknown yet. We has 2 patients with Goldenhar's syndrome and we have studied the etiopathogenicity and treatment in these diseases.

Adult↗

[Mucous nasosinus melanoma. Apropos of a case].

The mucous melanoma is a rare affection which has a very poor prognosis by its difficult diagnosis and unsatisfactory treatment. We have a patient with mucous melanoma nasal, which has been studied (clinic evolution, diagnosis and treatment) in our Hospital.
