[Laboratory diagnosis in tuberculosis].

The most reliable signs of tuberculosis infection is detection of M. tuberculosis complex in biological fluids and biopsy specimens from focus of lesions. The sensitivity of laboratory diagnostic methods is different for different biological materials, which dictates the utilization of a complex laboratory approach, including microscopy, bacteriological methods, detection of specific IgG, IgM, IgA, and polymerase chain reaction.

[The etiological diagnosis of nonclostridial anaerobic organic infection of the hepatobiliary system in military medical institutions].

The results of B-bile bacterial examinations of patients who had undergone operations on biliary tract for acute or chronic cholecystitis in the military medical institutions of the USSR and the USA were retrospectively compared. Distinctive and similar features were revealed. The leading role of bacteroids, anaerobic found bacteria and clostridia was ascertained during the studies of etiological structure of anaerobic biliary infection. As for nonclostridial anaerobic infection of biliary tract, the polymicrobiotic process of aerobic and anaerobic associations is more typical. The centralization of bacteriological examinations in specialized "anaerobic" laboratory may improve the efficiency of microbiological diagnostics of nonclostridial anaerobic infection.

[Characteristics of the diagnosis and treatment of secondary pneumonia in acute leukemia].

The authors presented the results of clinical observations and autopsy findings concerning the peculiarities of the development, diagnosis and treatment of secondary pneumonia in acute leukemia with pulmonary complications. Immunological disorders in patients with pneumonia in acute leukemia (general-changes in the levels of lysozyme, complement, immunoglobulins, T-lymphocytes, lymphocyte blast-transformation reaction; local-morphological changes, changes in the content of lysozyme, acid phosphatase activity, bronchoalveolar wash-off) were shown. A study of bronchoalveolar washes-off showed a clinical efficacy of a method of endobronchial injection of leukocytic mass for pneumonia in acute leukemia.

[Coefficient of microorganism antibiotic sensitivity determined by diffusion in agar using disks].

A sensitivity coefficient is proposed for increasing the informative capacity of the results of determination of antibiotic sensitivity of microorganisms by the agar diffusion method. The coefficient provides distribution of antibiotics by the levels of their activity against the pathogens. It is obtained by dividing the value of the growth inhibition zone of the organism being tested around the paper disk impregnated with an antibiotic by the value of the area of the circle with the diameter of the boundary growth zone of the sensitive strain.
