[Role of the venule and lymphatic links of microcirculation in transcapillary exchange at the level of the functional unit of an organ].

Fluorescent contact biomicroscopy has shown the presence of the protein permeability gradient in postcapillary and venular parts of the microvascular bed of the rat mesentery and stomach. Albumin and globulin that egressed into extravascular spaces were reabsorbed by lymphatic microvessels. Fluorescent protein was also detected in the form of golden granules in the endothelium of venules and in pericytes adjacent to the venular parts. The data obtained are discussed in the light of the role of venular and lymphatic microvessels in transcapillary exchange at the level of the functional organ element.

[Mast cells and vascular permeability in experimental aseptic peritonitis in the rat].

Mast cells and vascular permeability were examined in experimental aseptic peritonitis induced by intraperitoneal injection of starch into rats. It was established that derangement of vascular permeability in the inflammatory focus was consequent on degranulation of mast cells and release of inflammatory mediators. The model of the inflammation suggested enables the local focus to be created, with no mast cells seen for a long period of time (at least for 3 weeks).

[Relation between changes in platelet shape, calcium balance and the separating effect of cytochalasin B].

Platelets were stimulated in vitro by different ADP concentration (10(-7)--10(-9) M). Scanning electron microscopy, light transmission recording and the Ca-sensitive fluorescent probe, chlortetracycline, were used to study the time course of changes in the shape, aggregation and the amount of membrane-bound calcium during ADP activation. It was found that ADP (10(-7)--10(-8)M) causes reversible changes in the shape of platelets without disturbing their aggregation. The changes in question were accompanied by phasic alterations of the amount of membrane-bound calcium.

[Correlation of hemodynamic changes and mesenteric microcirculation in response to electric stimulation of the celiac ganglion in rats].

Acute experiments on anesthetized rats were made to study the time course of cardiac output (Cardiogreen dilution method) and systemic arterial pressure during electrical stimulation of the celiac ganglion. In other series of experiments a study was made of the time course of microcirculatory changes in the mesentery under the same conditions and with the use of intravital microscopy. An appreciable increase in the minute volume (23.44 +/- 4.91) was revealed 6 s after the onset of the stimulation. The increase in arterial pressure amounted to 7.06 +/- 2.45%. The increase of arterial pressure in the second series of experiments was 18.8 +/- 2.2%, and vasoconstriction 4.1 +/- 1.6% (the initial diameter of the vessels being 264.59 +/- 4.50 micrometers). Celiac ganglion stimulation led to a progressive deceleration of the blood flow and stoppage of the blood flow, with the diameter of the microvessels remaining unchanged. Regression analysis of the data obtained allows the conclusion that microcirculatory changes seen in the mesentery and initial hypertensive response are consequent on the increased cardiac output, on the one hand, and on the constriction of the mesenterial vessels, on the other.

[Hemodynamic characteristics of polypeptide substance P compared to bradykinin and prostaglandin E1].

The effective doses of substance P, bradykinin and prostaglandin E1 that induced depressor responses in rats and rabbits were compared. On molar conversion substance P showed the most pronounced activity. There was an essential difference in doses that evoked standard responses in rabbits (the preparations were administered into the right or left heart ventricle). For bradykinin the dose difference was fivefold and prostaglandin E1 twenty-twofold. Substance P did not undergo inactivation in the lungs.

[Changes in acetylcholinesterase and ATPase activity and certain structural features of the erythrocyte membrane in experimental myocardial ischemia].

Acute heart ischemia induced by ligation of the left coronary artery is associated with variation in the activity of acetylcholinesterase, Na, K-ATPase and Ca, Mg-ATPase in rat erythrocytes. The maximum pronounced variations in the enzymatic activity and in the membrane capacity of erythroblasts for binding direct turquoise are recorded on the 7th day of the experimental myocardial infarction.

[Microcirculatory changes in the mesentery and skeletal muscle of the rat in relation to systemic arterial pressure during stimulation of the hypothalamic nuclei].

In acute experiments on anesthetized rats, hypothalamus sites were stimulated through bipolar electrodes. Vasomotor reactions and blood flow in mesenteric and spinotrapezius muscle vessels were studied and recorded by intravital microscopy and microphotography. Systemic blood pressure (BP) was measured in the carotid artery via a catheter. The results indicate that electric stimulation of different hypothalamus sites induces pressor, depressor or biphasic BP reactions that are related to the site stimulated. Microcirculatory changes were monotonous. Regardless of BP reaction in the microcirculatory network of the mesentery, the transient acceleration, slowdown and stoppage of the blood flow were observed in mesenteric microvessels (10--70 micrometer) without changes in their diameter. Pronounced constriction of the diameter of small arteries (90--250 micrometer) were also recorded in the mesentery. During BP pressor reaction the dilatation of microvessels (5--40 micrometer) of the skeletal muscle and an increase in their blood content were noted.

[Use of the television analysing system in the studies on microcirculation].

In the experiments on anesthetized rats the television analysing system (LEITZ-TAS) was used for evaluation of quantitative structure-functional characteristics of microcirculation under intravital conditions and the development of microvessel network, for measuring geometric parameters of microvessels and blood flow change in them, as well as to define the degree and spreading of the disturbances in the vessel wall permeability.

[Effect of short-term cerebral ischemia on the microcirculation in the rat mesentery].

The effect of brain ischemia, produced by constriction of the common carotid arteries, on microcirculation in the mesentery was studied in experiments on rats. The spreading and intensity of microcirculatory disturbances were dependent on duration of ischemia and post-ischemia. The state of systemic hemodynamics and microcirculation in the mesentery was compared. Possible mechanisms of the microcirculatory disturbances are discussed.
