[An unusual histopathologic finding in polymorphic exanthema of pregnancy (itching, urticarial papules and plaques of pregnancy)].

We report on a 17-year-old primigravida with pruritic urticarial papules and plaques of pregnancy. Histopathologic examination revealed multiple dermal fibroblasts which almost disappeared after recovery. This unusual histologic feature has not been described in polymorphic eruption of pregnancy (pruritic urticarial papules and plaques and pregnancy) so far.

[Moniliform disease--new aspects].

We report on a 15-year-old boy suffering from acute morbus moniliformis. To the best of our knowledge, this cutaneous eruption in its acute form has not been described before. We think that morbus moniliformis is a unique dermatosis different from keratosis lichenoides chronica or lichen planus.

Surgical treatment of livedo vasculitis.

Surgical treatment for livedo vasculitis as a primary approach is not mentioned in the literature. A young female patient suffering from livedo vasculitis (atrophie blanche) was admitted with huge ulcerations and pre-ulcerative, infarcted skin areas of both feet and ankles. The lesions were promptly excised and skin grafted with excellent results. The course of treatment, including several surgical procedures, is described.

Pruritic urticarial papules and plaques of pregnancy. A review of 21 cases.

Twenty-one patients with pruritic urticarial papules and plaques of pregnancy (PUPPP) were reviewed. Direct immunofluorescence (DIF) examination was negative in all patients. DIF in patients with PUPPP is a useful and reliable laboratory aid in distinguishing this peculiar dermatosis from herpes gestationis.

Mask phenomenon: postemesis facial purpura.

A bizarre form of purpura seen on the face and neck after vigorous vomiting is described. Physicians should be familiar with this form of purpura since patients are very concerned about the mask that appears suddenly. Recovery is spontaneous, and no treatment is needed.
