[Medical x-ray equipment on the threshold of the 21st century].

The authors, specialists in medical X-ray engineering, have been engaged in it for about 40 years, forecast that this medical engineering field will be under development and regard its development as transition to a qualitative new level prepared by latest technologies in X-ray apparatus making, digital television, and computed technology rather than an ultimate landmark of evolution.

Radiography↗

[The TsFK-1 digital camera for fluorography and roentgenography].

Digital X-ray apparatuses have been designed to substitute for film fluorographs, which are noted for smaller radiation loads and high image quality. The paper describes one of such apparatuses, whose distinctive feature is the use of a low-noise CCD matrix having high-resolution matrix and a high performance luminescence screen. It outlines prospective variants of the use of the apparatus, describes the basic set supplied and its operation, gives its technical data and dimensions.

Equipment Design↗

[Bi-dimensional correction of x-ray images].

The frequency and contrast characteristics of the unit of the shadow image formation point to a material weakening of the high-frequency components in the spectrum of spatial frequencies already during the formation of the X-ray image. To compensate for this weakening that also takes place in other subassemblies of the television X-ray installation the introduction of an aperture corrector is necessary. As such a corrector in transmitting an image of little mobile objects a bidimensional aperture corrector set up on the transmitting television tube can be effectively used.

Radiographic Image Enhancement↗

[Television medical endoscopes].

The paper considers the present stage of development and ways of improving TV endoscopes for medicine. It has been shown that the most promising are the TV endoscopes which have sequential colour-separated transmission circuit and include impulse R, G, B light sources. The light is transferred through fibre optical conduit and matrices installed at the distal end of the endoscope. Digital converters convert the colour-separated image signals into simultaneous ones. This circuit makes it possible to avoid using expensive and complex equipment in manufacture of fibre optics. It provides a suitable for diagnosis image quality which can be additionally improved by electronic treatment of the image signal.

[Methods and equipment for processing x-ray films by x-ray television].

A review of television methods used for processing the X-ray films shows that in the future the technique that combines television and roentgen will allow more precise diagnose in accordance to X-ray patterns on the basis of such processes as harmonization, subtraction, artificial colour painting to emphasize the details of the organs under study, and with application of automatic measurement of geometric parameters of the organ image.

Technology, Radiologic↗

[Current role of x-ray technology in medical introscopy].

The current role of X-ray equipment in medical introscopy is considered in the context of answers to the following questions: Why are there so many types of imaging? Does each unit of radiation diagnosis need they all? Which is the comparative clinical value of different methods of introscopy and what part is assigned to the routine X-ray equipment at present? Now the traditional X-ray equipment is shown to be transforming into the digital systems of X-ray imaging; however, progress in this branch is associated with the limited use of X-ray in some diagnostic fields.

Humans↗

[Intensifiers of radiographic image with digital output].

The comparative parameters and characteristics of X-ray image intensifiers made by some Russian and foreign firms are given. It is noted that the 612 X-ray apparatus (Russia) are not inferior to its foreign analogues and they may be used for the equipping of rotating holding tables of all modifications, made both in Russia and foreign countries.
