[Effects of extreme factors and antioxidant alpha-tocopherol on the intensity of blood plasma chemiluminescence].

It was established in experiments on rats that intensity of "fast flash" of iron-induced chemiluminescence of biological samples containing microvolumes of blood plasma correlate with resistance of organism to severe hypoxia. The new method is promising for the estimation of the sensitivity of intact organism to severe hypoxia, for registration of antioxidant therapy effects and for studying the mechanisms of extreme factors influence on the organism.

[State of the free-radical oxidation system in normobaric hypoxia].

The experiments on the rats have revealed that 7-hour action of 10% hypoxic gas mixture (HGM-10) exerts no effect on the parameters of Fe(2+)-induced chemiluminescence and rate of accumulation of TBA-active products in the heart, liver, kidney, brain tissues and blood plasma. Two-week adaptation to intermittent effect of HGM-10 causes some activation of free-radical oxidation recorded in blood plasma and the more pronounced increase in power of the endogenic antioxidant system. It is assumed that the revealed changes in the state of the homeostatic system of free-radical oxidation and antiradical protection of the organism are of importance in the mechanism of the known preventive and curative action of intermittent normobaric hypoxia.

Adaptation, Physiological

[The effect of antioxidants on the fast burst of Fe2(+)-induced chemiluminescence].

A new micromethod for measuring the intensity of free radical oxidation reactions, based on an analysis of "fast flash" of iron-induced chemiluminescence parameters has been designed. The optimal concentration parameters of the reaction system have been determined. The effects of the antioxidants mexidol, probucol sodium dibunat and fenoxan have been examined in vitro.

[Study of the process of ACTH and insulin interaction with the plasmatic membranes of rat liver cells in vitro using luminescence methods].

The process of interaction of ACTH and insulin with plasmatic cellular membranes of the rat's liver and artificial lipid membranes (liposomes) was studied by the method of proper proteinic fluorescence and by using hydrophobic fluorescent probes. This process is shown to be attended by conformative readjustments of the membranous proteins and also by definite structural changes in the lipid phase of the membranes. In its action ACTH involves the hydrophobic layer of the lipid phase to a greater extent than does insulin. A comparison of the data on the effect produced by ACTH and insulin on the plasmatic membranes as against the results obtained with liposomes suggests that for the hormones to display their activity these have first to combine with the specific membranous protein, while a change in the lipid phase comes only as a consequence of such an interaction.

Adenosine Triphosphatases

[Influence of hypoxia on the effects of ethanol and acetaldehyde].

During experiments on male SHK mice it was established that a preliminary normobaric normocapnic hypoxic stimulation (30-minute inhalation of a gas mixture containing 10% of oxygen) increased the animal organism resistance to toxic effects of ethanol and its metabolite acetaldehyde.

Acetaldehyde

[Dynamics of bilignost distribution in different exposures of the body in white rats].

The dynamics of distribution of 125I- and 131I-bilignost in intact rats has been studied in experimental pathological condition of the liver. It has been shown that the cholecystographic radiographic contrast agent (RCA) bilignost is absorbed and accumulated mainly by the liver. This indicates that the preparation elicits a selective action with respect to the liver. Administration of 125I-bilignost in conjunction with the unlabeled cholecystographic agents bilignost and endografin induces competition for absorption by the liver, which distinguishes these preparations from the urographic agent cardiotrast decreasing accumulation of the label by the kidneys. Acute CCl4 poisoning of the animals results in a sharp decrease in the liver capacity for accumulation of 131I-bilignost and to a slight rise in the preparation kidney level. Three-day administration of phenobarbital to rats produces a considerable drop in 125I-bilignost level in all the organs tested, suggesting an enhanced RCA excretion from the body.
