[A plan for poliomyelitis vaccination].

A study of the vaccinal antecedents on a representative group of children between 12 and 45 months in the district 3 of Bucharest showed that there exists a certain and direct correlation between the number of simultaneous DTP/VPOT administrations programmed in the immunization scheme and the vaccinal coverage with I DTP revaccination at the minimum age recommended. Administration of VPOT at the ages of 3, 5 and 11 months, simultaneously with the corresponding doses of DTP is the most efficient immunization scheme with these vaccines, in order to proceed to steady rate of antipoliomyelitis vaccination.

[An economic evaluation of measles vaccination in District 3 of the city of Bucharest].

The cost-profit analysis (CPA) of the anti-measles (AM) vaccination, 10 years after its introduction in the anti-epidemic strategy, shows that in the district 3 of Bucharest, the prevention, by vaccination, of more than 17,000 cases of getting ill was associated with a net profit of 11 X 10(6) lei, and a profit/cost ratio (PCr) of 6/1. These figures evidence the economic value of the AM vaccination and stimulate the further development of the programme for the control of measles by vaccination.

[Vaccinal coverage at 1 year of age of the generation of children born in February 1987 in District 3 of the city of Bucharest].

The authors checked the vaccine coverage and the situations in which the compulsory vaccines were not administered up to the age of one year in the children born in February 1987 in District III of Bucharest. The results show a vaccine coverage of more than 90% in BCG vaccination (99.4%), antipoliomyelitic with one dose (94.2%) and with two doses of oral polyvaccine (92.2%) respectively, and the first DTP vaccination (95.9%). The values were under 90% in antimeasles vaccination (87.2%) and the second vaccination with 1 DTP (25.5%). The main causes leading to vaccine coverage could have been prevented. Discussion of these results shows that better vaccination values might be obtained by improving the present control on the immunoprophylaxis activity of the paediatric medical units, by intensifying both their control actions and aims.

[The risks of transmitting viral hepatitis in a section of the city of Bucharest].

The authors of the present paper consider that 82.3% of all cases of viral hepatitis in a Bucharest district were transmitted nonparenterally and only 17.7% were transmitted parenterally. They used the information on the way and mode of transmission, recorded in the epidemiologic investigations, of the cases of viral hepatitis without HBsAg in 1987 and of those with HBsAg in 1983-1987, respectively. The highest values of the risk of catching the disease were calculated for the infective social contact in family, in the viral hepatitis with HBsAg (60.9%), and for the infective social contact in collectivities (46.4%) in the viral hepatitis without HBsAg. These data have to be checked up by prospective epidemiologic studies, randomized and controlled.

Epidemiological features of influenza in a large town of Romania during 1983.

Data supplied by the active influenza surveillance - including clinical, epidemiological and laboratory investigations - allowed the characterization of the particularities of an influenza outbreak caused by A(H3N2) virus in a large town of Romania in March 1983. The epidemiological impact of influenza in 1983 is discussed in the light of the complex relationships between the antigenic structure of circulating influenza strains and the profile of antiinfluenza immunity of the population.

Epidemiologic features of influenza in a large urban centre (B.) in Romania, in 1987.

The study presents the peculiarities of influenza evolution in 1987 in a large town in Romania. These features were defined by a complex methodology, based on clinical, epidemiologic and laboratory investigations, used in the active control of the epidemiologic process kinetics. The influenza viruses type A (H1N1 and H3N2) had a major role in the infecting and immunizing contacts in all age groups whereas the influenza virus type B had a reduced circulation. The epidemiologic influenza impact in 1987 is discussed from the point of view of the complex relationships between the antigenic structure of circulating influenza viruses and the anti-influenza immune profile of the population under the influence of extremely complex economic, social and natural factors.

Epidemiologic particularities of influenza in 1986 in a large urban centre of Romania.

The study presents the evolutive peculiarities of the epidemiologic influenza process in 1986 in a large urban centre in Romania, inferrable from the active control by a complex methodology based on clinical, epidemiologic and laboratory investigations. The prevalent part of A (H1N1 and H3N2) and B influenza viruses in causing seasonal morbidity risings is being stressed. A (H3N2) and B influenza viruses determined an epidemic rising during the first trimester and A (H1N1) and A (H3N2) during the fourth trimester in 1986. The epidemiologic influenza impact in 1986 is discussed from the point of view of the complex relationships between the antigenic structure of circulating influenza viruses and the antiinfluenza immune structure of the population.
