[148 epiphysiodeses in the management of leg length inequality].

The authors relate their experience in the treatment of unequal leg length, in children, by was of epiphysiodesis. They realized 54 Phemister's operations and 94 Blount's Among the latters, final sterilization of the epiphyseal cartilage has been noted after 1,5 year and the axis deviations (main complication of these operations) was clearly more frequent and graver. Besides, the estimates preliminary to the epiphysiodesis setted up for the treatment of small inequality proved to be little reliable and little accurate and this difficulty in making accurate prevision is an important snag to the method.

[Benign synovialoma of knee in children (author's transl)].

The authors report 2 cases of benign synovialoma of knee in children. After studying the clinical and radiological symptomatology, they insist on the anatomical pathological criteria which are the only specific ones. However, this benign affection takes on a serious complexion, in the diffuse forms, on account of the incomplete and impairing nature of an exclusively surgical treatment.

[Pseudo-sarcomatous osteomyilitis in the child (author's transl)].

The authors report three unusual cases of paediatric osteomyelitis resembling a lytic or mixed osteosarcoma. The severity of the radiological lesions is such that only a diagnostic approach is possible before surgical biopsy. Under the effects of treatment, osteolysis resolved in two cases by bone eburnation in two cases and pandiaphyseal sequestration in one case. These three cases were collected in less than a year. Thus osteomyelitis is currently adding new diagnostic traps in bone pathology in children.

[Embryonic sarcoma of the uro-genital sinus in children and adolescents. Report of 5 cases from Nancy (author's transl)].

The authors report 5 cases of embryonic sarcoma of the uro-genital sinus. 3 children, aged respectively, 17 months, 2 1/2 years, 6 years and two adolescents of 17 and 19 years. There were 3 boys and 2 girls. In only one case was the tumour obvious on clinical examination. In all the other cases, it caused urinary retention. On cystography, there was a polycyclic vesical filling defect resembling a parachute, which is specific of the botryoid variety and always leads to the right diagnosis. In girls, sarcoma of the urogenital sinus above the bladder, may be confused with other pelvic tumours. The authors recall the importance of lateral views of cystography to eliminate, if necessary, low paravertebral neurogenic tumours or sacro-coccygeal dysembryomas. After discussing the pathology, and the clinical and radiological findings, the authors then review rapidly the present methods of treatment which give a large number of survivals and should lead one to treat all cases, even when there are recurrences or metastases.
