[Reliability and efficacy in differentiating microorganisms].
Knowledge of the reliability and effectiveness of differentiation may ensure the objective evaluation of investigation results, the choice of optimal tests. With the diagnosis of Staphylococcus aureus carriage used as an example, the method for the calculation of mistakes in differentiation, characterizing its reliability and effectiveness is proposed. Calculations are carried out by simple computations with the use of formulae and nomograms.

[A nonuniform sequential procedure for diagnosing Staphylococcus aureus].
The possibility of the sharp differentiation of S. aureus in the nonuniform successive statistical identification procedure with the use of signs ranked by their differential information content. The procedure starting from the signs with greater information content permits the identification of S. aureus in 100% of cases.

[The chronobiological aspects of changes in the level of serum immunoglobulins in healthy people].
The results of the determination of the concentration of immunoglobulins (Ig) in the blood of 540 donors, carried out at the period of 1989-1990, are analyzed. The presence of annual biorhythms in the content of IgA, IgG and IgM has been established, the biorhythmic curves of IgG and IgM practically coinciding and the biorhythmic curve of IgA shifting with respect to the curves of IgG and IgM by about 3 months. As revealed by this analysis, a decrease in the concentration of IgG and IgM correlates with an increase in the occurrence of purulent septic infections after surgical interventions. The presence of annual rhythms in the content serum should be considered in the interpretation of the results of immunological studies, as well as in planning and realization of different therapeutic and prophylactic measures.
