[Experimental visualization of the ventricular conduction system of the heart intra vitam (author's transl)].

The in-vivo tolerability of an in vitro in cow, calf and sheep hearts developed method for radiologic visualization of the left ventricular conduction system is tested in four animal experiments. The clinical in-vivo tolerability could be demonstrated on principle; however, it is to accent that hypertonic X-ray contrast dyes may be the cause of morphological changes in the micro- and ultrastructures of the specialised musculature of unknown dignity.

[Arthroscopic diagnosis of disk injury of the wrist joint].

Arthrography of the wrist joint is a possibility to show a disc lesion by demonstrating a communication between the radioulnar and -carpal space in cases of persistent wrist pain after an accident without any bone disorders in x-ray. For differentiation between a pre-existent disc variety with a central whole and a real traumatic tear or degenerative alterations arthroscopy is the method of choice. Furthermore other changes of the wrist as free bodies and chondropathy can be seen. The indication for an arthrotomy and a causal treatment are more exact and were proved by a follow-up of 10 patient between 1985-1987 at the orthopedic university clinic Berlin.

[Macroreplantation of the upper extremity. Report of experiences based on 4 cases].

Amputation of an extremity frequently represents a life-threatening injury and is accompanied by volume deficiency shock through loss of blood. The loss of an arm leads to diability and thus impairs the physical and psychic integrity of the person concerned. This contribution presents 4 cases with macroamputation at the upper extremity, 3 of them involving successfully performed reimplantations. After a historic survey, these cases are used as a basis for discussing the establishment of the indication, the procedure, the complications and the results of the reimplantation.

Influence of sperm plasma membrane destruction on human sperm head decondensation and pronuclear formation.

This study investigated the ability of membrane-damaged sperm to undergo sperm head decondensation and male pronuclear forrmation following intracytoplasmic sperm injection. For induction of membrane-damage, sperm were exposed to 0.1% Triton X-100 for a few seconds. The single sperm curling (SSC) test was performed to evaluate the viability of the sperm. Of the injected oocytes 49 and 47% developed male pronuclei in the experimental and control groups, respectively. Sperm head decondensation was much higher in the membrane-damaged group (84 versus 70%). This study clearly shows that ICSI of membrane-damaged sperm does not affect pronuclear formation, although sperm head decondensation is much higher.
