[Use of radon-containing rectal suppositories in chronic prostatitis complicated by sexual dysfunctions].

The article describes how to apply radon-containing rectal suppositories in patients with chronic prostatitis (CP). Intrarectal insertion of the suppositories is performed in the patients lying in the left lateral or knee-elbow position daily for the first 8 days in a dose 18.5 kBk, for the following 2-4 days in a daily dose 37 kBk 2-3 times a day. So, the course of the treatment takes 10-12 days. Such treatment of CP patients eradicated or alleviated prostatic inflammation and improved sexual function, was effective in 80% patients, prolonged remission to 12-16 months.

[Physical factors in the therapy of secondary chronic pyelonephritis].

The authors have developed combined therapy of secondary chronic pyelonephritis with immune and urodynamic dysfunctions. The treatment includes physical factors: decimeter microwaves, gangleron-electrophoresis with sinusoidal modulated currents, sodium chloride baths, oral mineral water Moskovskaia. The adjuvant use of the above physical factors proved advantageous.

[The use of an impulse magnetic field in the combined therapy of patients with stone fragments in the upper urinary tract].

The paper covers the experiment's details and the results obtained at stimulation of the kidney projection region and upper ureter with remote-controlled impulse magnetic field (IMF). It was found that IMF activates impulse activity of ureteral smooth muscles in 100% of cases. The technique is detailed of managing ureterolith fragments using IMF combined with iodobromine baths. The results of the proposed treatment are given. A single therapeutic course produced effect in 62.9% of the patients.

[Accelerated elimination of the stone fragments after extracorporeal shockwave lithotripsy].

As shown in experiments on 40 Chinchilla male rabbits, sinusoidal modulated currents (SMC) and ultrasound (US) are able to enhance bioelectrical activity of the ureteral smooth muscles. Activation of the muscular wall biopotential is followed by 0.15-0.2 s contraction. The above effect was used by the authors in rehabilitation of 120 patients after ECIL. SMC and US were included into the physiotherapeutic complex. The above patients whose concrements after the fragmentation diminished to less than 7 cm in size were divided into 2 groups. Sixty patients of group 1 received spasmolytic drugs, sodium chloride or iodine-bromine baths and dynamic amplipulse therapy. Sixty patients of group 2 in addition to the above treatment were exposed to local vibration and US. All the patients were given antibacterial drugs. The percent of patients with complete urolith evacuation in group 1 amounted to 91.7%, with partial evacuation 8.3% (96.7 and 3.3% in group 2, respectively). Dynamic nephroscintigraphy demonstrated that after relevant physiotherapy renal function improved, leukocyte and red cell count in the urine and ferrum, alkaline phosphatase levels in the serum decreased.

[The stimulation of ureteral motor activity by ultrasound in ureterolithiasis].

The paper presents methodological and therapeutic aspects of the experiment in which rabbit ureters were stimulated with ultrasound. Rectal exposure to the ultrasound made impulses from the ureteral smooth muscle significantly more frequent in 100% of the animals, applications of the ultrasound to the skin produced the same results in 70% of the test animals. The authors also achieved clinical effects in 63.6% and 86.7% of patients with ureteroliths or their fragments, respectively, in the low third of the ureter following combined treatment which involved oral mineral water, sodium chloride baths and ultrasound. The effect was evident after a single treatment course.
