[Central hemodynamics in patients with arteriosclerosis obliterans of the lower limbs].

Central hemodynamic status was studied using integral body rheography in 93 patients with arterial atherosclerotic occlusions in lower extremities and aorto-iliac region. Changes in central hemodynamic parameters were established in 65,6% of the patients, correlating with the severity of aorto-arterial lesion, location of the process and duration of the disease. Improvement of peripheral circulation under the effect of conservative and surgical treatment (lumbar sympathectomy and reconstructive vascular surgery) was accompanied with favourable changes in central hemodynamic parameters in all the patients.

[Keeled chest].

The authors analyze their observation of 66 patients with pigeon-breast deformity, 42 of them were operated upon. They propose a classification of the pigeon breast deformity on the basis of anatomo-physiological and clinical principles. Techniques for the operative correction of each type are proposed. Good cosmetic and functional results were obtained.

Congenital Abnormalities↗

[Extraperitoneal approaches in surgery on the abdominal aorta and its branches].

The use of extraperitoneal accesses was analyzed in 163 reconstructive operations on the abdominal aorta and its branches. A wide use of them is shown to be expedient. Seven types of extraperitoneal accesses are described with special reference to their advantages and shortcomings and indications for each of them. The work also discusses one of extraperitoneal accesses for lumbar sympathectomy (used in 312 patients). It is estimated positively.

[Parenteral use of an immobilized microbial protease in the combined treatment of experimental peritonitis].

The experimental fecal peritonitis was induced in 70 immature rabbits and the effect of a new enzyme -- "immobilized" terrilythin -- and its combinations with ampicillin upon the development of the pathological process was studied. The efficiency of an associated repeated employment of the "immobilized" terrilythin and ampicillin in experimental peritonitis has been demonstrated which was supported by higher survival and longer life time of the experimental animals.

[Effect of a modified terrilytin on ampicillin pharmacokinetics in experimental peritonitis].

The effect of modified terrilytin, a new enzyme of the microbial origin on the pharmacokinetics of ampicillin in experimental peritonitis was studied on 16 pubertal rabbits. Peritonitis was caused by laparotomy and administration of a 15 per cent fecal suspension into the abdominal cavity. The drugs were injected intramuscularly: the enzyme in a dose of 5 PU/kg and the antibiotic in a dose of 10 mg/kg. The ampicillin levels in the blood and peritoneal exudate were determined with the agar-diffusion method. The specimens were collected 30 minutes, 1, 1.5 and 2 hours after administration of the drugs. The animals were divided into 2 groups: control (not treated with the enzyme) and experimental. An increase in the antibiotic levels in the blood and peritoneal exudate by 50--54 per cent was observed. The maximum increase was recorded 30 minutes after simultaneous administration of the drugs.
